APPLIED ARTS
EVERY ENVIRONMENT YOU ENGAGE IN IMPACTS THE WAY YOU FEEL
Environment is the single most influential factor on a human being – from the verbal environments we create when we speak to each other, to the spatial environments we construct as our homes. We all have the ability to create and live in beautiful, inspiring, uplifting environments. Life is a balance and the negative will come, so I believe in doing everything we can to create and preserve the beautiful spaces we exist in.
Chinoiserie Cabinet
My love for Chinoiserie started in Los Angeles in 2002. At the time I worked exclusively as a decorative artist painting intricate scenes for interior designers and private clients.
Hancock Park Floral Meditation Mural
Inspired by Dutch Golden Age painter Balthasar van der Ast’s painting “Still Life with Flowers, Shells and Insects” this mural, along with soft furnishings and affirmative decorative accents, created an uplifting, blossoming space for daily meditation.
This was a very special project for me because it spoke to both my love of art and my daily practice of Kundalini yoga.
Montecito Limestone Archways and Architrave Antique Restoration
Reproduction and restoration are two artistic disciplines that require an artist to take a step outside their own art and completely disappear into the work that came before them. Creativity in projects like these comes from strategy.
I love the challenges that come with reproducing and restoring. The work is never the same and the process is always rewarding.
On the left, I reproduced the look and texture of Mexican limestone on eight arches.
On the right, I helped to restore the hand painting and 22 karat gold patina finish on a 17th century Italian architrave that endured extensive fire and water damage.
Westlake Traditional Cabinet Refinishing
As a decorative artist that collaborates closely with interior designers I have the opportunity to help bring a collective vision to life. Here I had the privilege to transform an open kitchen and family room space by creating a neutral palette cabinet finish that seamlessly complimented the designer’s choice of soft goods and furnishings.
LOVE FOR THE PROCESS
Custom painted furniture and reproduction begins with a sample.
