The artwork for this custom designed furniture piece was inspired by my SNOW CRANES painting which I painted after visiting snowy upstate New York over the winter holidays. For the cabinet a series of renderings were created based on Chinoiserie themes. After developing full-scale elevations of the approved renderings, the Chinoiserie was transferred onto a black gesso base and selectively raised. Composition silver-leaf was then applied over the entire exterior surface of the cabinet, shaded, detailed and defined. Whitewash glazes followed.
The Chinoiserie artwork featured on the Eaton Cabinet was custom designed for the Quintus Showroom in Los Angeles, CA.
